I had an event coming up for which I wanted to use the new SAC rig, but there was no money to put one together until I got paid for the event. During the event I paid attention to all that I was doing behind the board and decided that there was really very little that I could not do with the SAC Rig.

With the event completed it was time to order the parts for my rig. I wrote up the build on my computer site: http://www.ibuiltmycomputer.com/. I built a system very similar to the one that went into Harrah's in Las Vegas but with only 32 channels. I used a Gigabyte motherboard instead of the Asus that Bob Lentini prefers, but used the same processor and amount of memory.

When I first got the system together and loaded SAC I was seeing a lot of slipped buffers. With the help of the forum I traced this down to the video section. I had just put the driver disk in and told it to do its thing. Not only did it install the needed drivers for the video card but some additional un-needed utilities. Uninstalling the whole mess and just installing the driver cleared the slipped buffer issue.

I had the system stabalized at around 3 PM on a Friday afternoon. I had a gig that night, so I threw the new rig in the truck and headed out to the show. There was much that I did not know about the rig and some of it I had to learn during set-up, but the show went off and the system sounded great. I had a much more significant gig the following week and needed the time with the SAC system so that I would be ready.

I have now used my SAC system for nearly a year and a half. I have seldom mixed on a hardware console in that time, and when I do I always miss my SAC Rig. I am still blown away by the definition that the SAC mixing environmentt gives me. I find that I can mix at lower volume levels because I don't have to push anything to get it out. It is all right there and sits in a mix easily.

I have been in the audio field for nearly forty years and in live sound for almost twenty-five years. I own and operate a small sound production company. I have used boards from small club systems up through 40 and 56 channel concert boards. My main event rig for the past several years was centered around a 32 channel Soundcraft GB-8 board. I have a 40 channel Soundcraft K-2 and a 40 channel Soundcraft Spirit monitor desk for the concert situations that I can handle.

I heard about the SAC system in the winter of 2008 and put my rig together in the spring of 2009. Since putting the SAC rig together I have very seldom taken the hardware out of the warehouse.

In addition to the sound quality I enjoy the compactness of the SAC system and the feature set. To have all the bells and whistles at your finger tips is a great joy.

I look forward to every opportunity to mix sound on my SAC rig. I often mix from a netbook remote and people are amazed. The complements on the sound quality never cease.
